Transitional Coordinator of Educational Ministries
Position Description
15 hours/week

Purpose: The Transitional Coordinator of Educational Ministries creatively ministers to the congregation through faith education programs for all ages by:
� Helping people identify, develop and use their gifts to participate in and support the church’s faith education opportunities.
� Providing a challenging learning environment where people can deepen their spiritual formation.

Qualifications: The minimum qualification is a bachelor’s degree with 2 years of volunteer or paid experience in Christian education.

Responsibilities:
Program Support:
1. Coordinates and supervises a planned Faith Education program from September through June. The Faith Education program includes education for children, youth and adults plus intergenerational and special worship events as requested by the Pastor and Worship Team.
2. Provides support and arranges training for church school teachers and youth advisors including the church’s Sexual Misconduct Prevention Policy.
3. Organizes, develops, and maintains curricula and educational resources.
4. Provides a diversity of educational experiences, incorporating a range of opportunities
for all groups within the church to explore their beliefs and support their faith journey.
� Uses and advocates for inclusive language in educational programs and assures that volunteers understand the concept and integrate it into programs.
� Is encouraged to be creative and forward-thinking in approach.
Communication:
1. Informs parents and youth about the presbytery’s camp opportunities and other events designed to strengthen developing faith.
2. Consults parents to solicit feedback as to the significance of the faith education program in the lives of their children.
3. Encourages youth and adult member participation in leadership events sponsored by the denomination.
Administration:
1. Attends staff meetings.
2. Develops and administers fiscally responsible faith education budgets for 2007 in consultation with the appropriate committees.

Accountability: The Transitional Coordinator of Educational Ministries is accountable to the Pastor as head of staff and the Session through the Personnel Committee.

Relationships: The Transitional Coordinator of Educational Ministries shall serve as staff resource for the Adult Education Committee and the Faith Education Committee. The Transitional Coordinator of Educational Ministries is a staff resource to Session.

Evaluation: Performance and compensation will be reviewed by the Pastor and reported to the Session through the Personnel Committee.

Youth Leader: P-T, approx. 10 hrs./wk, to develop and carry out Christian education and fellowship for congregational youth and youth in the surrounding community. Plan monthly youth programming, focusing on Christian education and periodic recreational activities. Participate in yearly Vacation Bible School. Plan annual youth retreat; and annual youth community outreach project. Identify ways to partner with other local community Youth Programs to enhance fellowship among other Christian believers. Publicize Youth Program activities. Must be willing to attend our church regularly and have own transportation.
